CATA helps “Main Street Canada” benefit from initiatives in Social Responsibility
November 19, 2008

CATA is working with Algonquin’s Business Innovation Centre and the Ottawa Community Loan Fund to launch an annual Conference to celebrate and showcase excellence in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Social Enterprise in Canada. “CSR-oriented companies look to the benefit of society at large in addition to their corporate responsibilities,” said Eli Fathi, Conference Chair and CATA Board Member.  The focus of the Conference this year will be on Social Enterprise and Microfinance. There will be a small tradeshow showcasing Ottawa based Social Enterprise organizations to be followed by a keynote speaker and two awards presentations. The awards will be presented to an individual that demonstrated leadership in the promotion of Social Enterprise and to a Corporation that has exhibited a strong commitment to CSR in Canada. The Conference will evolve from an evening session this year to a full day Conference to be held on a yearly basis.

The Conference will be held in December 3rd and features the Right Honorable Paul Martin as the keynote speaker and opening remarks by His Worship Larry O'Brien the Mayor of Ottawa
