i-CANADA Welcomes Capgemini Canada President Geoffrey Cronin to Governors Council
November 6, 2013

Chair of i-CANADA Bill Hutchison has welcomed Capgemini Canada President Geoffrey Cronin to the Governors Council of i-CANADA.  The Governors Council is Chaired by New Brunswick Premier David Alward, and includes other Premiers, Mayors and CEOs. i-CANADA’s goal is to create an Intelligent Nation, where each community is making full use of digital inclusion, ultra-broadband communications, and a rainbow of applications, to prosper with the higher employment and better living standards that are the hallmark of Intelligent Communities.

“Geoff has outstanding qualities that will add great strength to our Governors Council,” said Mr. Hutchison.  “He can translate innovation into action; Geoff led Capgemini’s successful launch of the first private cloud computing environment, garnering recognition from SAP as the first global firm certified to run SAP applications in a cloud environment.  Geoff is also an expert in growing large organizations  --  a trait we in Canada sorely need to face international competition.

“We are very fortunate to have one of Canada’s business leaders as a member of Governor’s Council for such an important endeavour.  Geoff sets high goals and has a passion to lead.  Capgemini is involved in almost every aspect of development today, from electric cars to transformational outsourcing.  This is a major gain for i-CANADA and our leadership decision-making.”

“I am very pleased to be getting involved in the i-CANADA movement,” said Mr. Cronin.  “i-CANADA brings together all the elements that make up humanity’s sphere of hopes, dreams and actions…all those things that make us a community that is carrying forward our culture and our heritage.  I am delighted that I will be able to help Canadians develop the power that is within each community.  If we work together, we can fundamentally change the world  --  the world that begins in our communities.”
