CATA Releases October Update and Advocacy Alert
Argues for Immediate Improvements to the CRA's
Management of the SR&ED Program

In his October SR&ED Update, Russ Roberts, Senior Vice President, Tax and Finance, CATAAlliance, highlights the problems that companies are encountering with the CRA's new, more rigid expectations and audit practices; outlines CATA's work on best practices and CATA's recent SR&ED advocacy efforts; and invites your participation in CATA's new LinkedIn SR&ED forum.

The Update highlights CATA's call for the CRA, and the Ministers of National Revenue and Finance to table a solution that can immediately bring the SR&ED Program’s management back into synch with the historical roots of the program. CATA argues that delaying a year until the completion of the Government's innovation framework review by an expert panel, as recently announced by the Minister of State (Science and Technology), is just too long to wait. The impacts of the delay will be just too great for companies that have been using the program in good faith as an essential component of their business plans. The Update includes a white paper developed with leading practitioners on where changes are needed, parameters for solutions, and the consequences of not acting.
