i-CANADA Governors To Meet With Industry Minister: Engage with us in Advancing All that is Digital in Canada
July 28, 2014

Industry Minister James Moore will be meeting with the i-CANADA Governors Council on Canada’s digital future.  Recently Industry Canada launched the “Digital Canada 150” strategy, to ensure that Canadians can take full advantage of the opportunities of the digital age. It stresses:

  •   Action to ensure healthy competition in the wireless industry;
  •  $300-million in VC funding for digital firms;
  •   Up to $305-million to provide 5 Mbps Internet speed for 98 percent of Canadians by 2017; and
  •   Five key pillars: connecting Canadians, protecting Canadians, economic opportunities, digital government and Canadian content.

Our view is that while it is a good start, we can enrich that vision to stimulate the creation of Smart Communities.

For those who might be interested should space be available, two dates are in play to pencil in on your calendars, which we will finalize in the first week of September.

Please hold:
Monday, September 29th, and
Monday, October 6th

The meeting will take place in Ottawa in the early afternoon.
