Implementing 'Accountability' in government
April 06, 2006

"Over several decades, governments in most modern democracies have been challenged with building effective structures, while maintaining responsible stewardship of public resources. Doing so requires, first and foremost, a public service that can assess spending, challenge inefficient processes, evaluate and report on program performance, and operate transparently. It also requires the good management and strong organizational performance that ultimately depend on people." (Treasury Board of Canada, Secretariat).

In order to help respond to these priorities, we are inviting you as our guest at a leadership Roundtable with other government executives on May 18th 2006. Discussion will be led by Rex Murphy (Social Commentator and Editorial Journalist) with a focus on:

  • How to build an effective structure that is transparent and delivers value
  • How to implement accountability in the government
  • Which back end processes need to change in order to take the current government to the next level
  • How leading government business units are delivering value while maintaining a transparent structure

This Roundtable format will provide you and your colleagues with an opportunity to network with each other to discuss challenges in execution and best practices.

Following the roundtable, a white paper report, a number of case studies, and presentations will be made available to you.

Will you please review the agenda below and let me know if you can attend this unique executive Roundtable?
