CATA Announces New Mobile Health Advisory Board Member

Ottawa, ON, February 6, 2014CATAAlliance announced today the addition of Donna Rubin, CEO, OANHSS (see bio, below) to its Mobile Health Advisory Board.

“Ms. Rubin has extensive expertise in the long term care sector and she will sharpen our focus on the challenges we face in the delivery of health services to seniors,” said John Reid, President & CEO of CATAAlliance. “Donna’s perspective will be critically important as Canada strives to provide health services to its aging population”, Reid added.

It is estimated that during the next decade Canada will have nearly 7 million seniors. “I am excited to join a group that is focused on leveraging mobile health solutions to address the growing strain on our healthcare system and to deliver better ways for Canadians to manage their healthcare needs,” said Donna Rubin.

The Mobile Health Advisory Board brings together stakeholders who strongly believe that the greater adoption of mobile technology would significantly enhance the quality of health care services delivered to Canadian citizens as well as drive cost efficiencies throughout the healthcare system.

Bio – Donna Rubin

Donna Rubin is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Association of Non-Profit Homes and Services for Seniors (OANHSS). OANHSS is a provincial association of non-profit providers of care and services to seniors. Members represent the full spectrum of the continuum including long term care homes, seniors housing and community services.

Ms. Rubin has worked at OANHSS since 1990, and became Chief Executive Officer in 1999. Prior to joining OANHSS, Ms. Rubin’s work experience was college and university administration, with positions at McGill University, Mount Royal College, and Bishop’s University.

As CEO of OANHSS, Ms. Rubin’s prime focus has been to bring the Association’s advocacy efforts out to the public, raising public awareness of the non-profit long term care sector and of the issues which affect both members and the individuals they serve. Ms. Rubin has been very active in representing the Association on numerous external committees focused on improving the healthcare system provincially.
