Call for Nominations, Opportunities for Media and Business Profile

Ottawa, February 1, 2007... For more than two decades, the CATAAlliance Innovation and Leadership Awards Gala Dinner has been celebrating the best in Canadian Innovation and outstanding achievement. This prestigious Awards Gala has become one of the most eagerly awaited events of Canada's advanced technology community.

The Awards evening is meant to be a celebration of the award winners and of Canadian innovation. CATAAlliance and its partners will recognize industry innovation, expertise, and leadership in the Canadian high-technology sector.

Special guests from industry and government will be invited to attend and the evening will feature the awards ceremony, high level networking and a business dinner. Award winners benefit from branding and profile in the media and visibility to customers and partners.

The 2007 Innovation and Leadership Awards Gala Dinner will take place on June 19, 2007 at the Chateau Laurier hotel in Ottawa. Paul Brent, host of CJOH TV's Tech Now will be the guest MC. Our theme for the keynote address is "A Passion for Entrepreneurships" and the subject of a separate communique.

Awards will be presented in the following areas:

  • Outstanding Product Achievement
  • Development & Application of Nanotechnology in Canadian Industry
  • Emerging Technology
  • Excellence in Science and Technology Reporting
  • Private Sector Innovation and/or Leadership in Advanced Technology
  • Information Technology Strategic Leadership
  • Public Sector Leadership in Advanced Technology
  • Sara Kirke Award for Woman Entrepreneurship

Also new for this year, is a Canadian of the Year Award for the Canadian who has done the most to demonstrate Canadian innovation around the world. The winner will be chosen by CATA's Governing Council, as part of the industry's Innovation Nation Platform to promote Canada's global brand.

Some of Canada's leading organizations support the Awards program through sponsorships and publicity, such as, Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLB, Ernst & Young, the Royal Bank of Canada, Research in Motion (RIM), Pratt & Whitney Canada, High Road Communications, 3M Canada, the SAS Institute, University of Ottawa, School of Management, Xerox Canada, and the Information and Technology Council (ICTC).

The CATAAlliance Innovation and Leadership Awards are the most prestigious annual awards conferred on individuals and corporations by Canada's advanced technology community. Criteria for each award is explained as part of the category description in the Nomination Guide.

Nominations for 2007 are now open. Nominate your candidate for the CATAAlliance Innovation and Leadership Awards. Deadline for submission is April 15, 2007.
