Media Advisory: Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT) announces the launch of its Calgary Chapter
January 28, 2013

Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT), a Division of CATAAlliance, is pleased to announce the launch of its Calgary Chapter.  For more information on the importance of our organization we would like to introduce you to our Calgary Chapter Chair, Michele Taylor, President, IQ Management Corp.

Canadian Women in Technology (CanWIT, a division of CATA Alliance) is a national volunteer organization that encourages young women to consider a career in a technology field and helps accelerate the careers of those women already in the sector. We provide knowledge and support through various programs that include mentorship initiatives, networking events, professional development and advocacy.

Today, women represent 47% of the overall Canadian workforce. However, only 24% of the Canadian Advanced Technology Sector’s workforce is women (only 17% of which are in core technology roles). Even a smaller percentage are managers. CanWIT’s aim is to improve these statistics by helping attract and retain women to the sector.

Join us on Feb. 27th at the Calgary Petroleum Club for the launch event of CanWIT’s Calgary Chapter, “CanWIT Community and Connections Roundtable.” This is a great opportunity to speak to myself and key members of the Calgary team, and to let us know how we can work together to advance the careers of women within Calgary’s growing tech sector.

Please do not hesitate to contact Emily Boucher at  or Michele at  or 403 287 8714 for more information on CanWIT and the Calgary Chapter’s launch event.
