Linking Capital to Advanced Security Companies: Join the TSX – CATA Capital Connections Series 2012 Advance Notice
December 20, 2011

The Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance and member partner TSX are pleased to announce the second of a new and innovative series of investment opportunity events aimed at aligning Canadian providers of advanced security technologies with interested capital investors from some of Canada’s leading Technology Investment Banks.

This is an advance notice to enable companies to book their space early for April 2012 meetings  (tbc)  in Ottawa and Kitchener-Waterloo.

The unique format for these events allows for strategic meetings to take place between leading CATA companies and elite professionals from the capital markets focused on the growth oriented technology companies. Each event will feature 10 minute meetings between the CEO’s and the capital market professionals, and offers an opportunity post-meeting to develop relationships and network with other leaders in the advanced security sector.

Each event will be limited to five companies – details on how to secure one of these exclusive opportunities are provided below.

The inaugural launch took place in Toronto, on September 20 and has resulted (to date) in two of the participating companies securing growth capital.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with the TSX in creating this tightly focused capital investment program,” says CATA President and CEO Reid. “We understand that any time a company is moving from different stages, whether you’re a startup going to early stage or early stage going to mid-stream, you have a significant capital requirement and it’s very hard to be heard, appreciated and actually funded through the more obvious venture channels. So if you can reduce the time it takes for the key people to talk to one another, then you’re addressing a primary business requirement.”

How to Participate

There are three steps to qualifying for these opportunities:

If you are an advanced security company, defined as – a firm that specifically targets the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) to the security industry including network and non-network components and can include manufacturers, software publishers, and solutions integrators – then:

Once submitted you will obtain the link to a short online company profile, which when completed will be shared with the investors
  2. Investors will review all submissions and identify the top 5 they wish to meet – a confirmation will be sent indicating whether or not your firm has been selected
  3. If selected, confirm your ability to attend and submit any follow-up materials requested — if not selected, resubmit at future opportunities
Note that as there are plans to hold these sessions across Canada, a company needs only complete the profile once and it can be re-submitted, with any needed modifications, at each occasion without incurring further cost.
