About BRACT

The National Institute on Biomass, Renewable and Clean Technologies (BRACT) is a virtual institute comprised of thought leaders in the areas of Academia, Business, the Public Sector and Technology Alliances.

BRACT’s mission is to bring together the best and leading minds in the area of green and renewable technologies to create a single repository of knowledge for the benefit of Canadians – citizens and business.

By creating an institute, BRACT’s vision is to provide the capacity to the country to lead and coordinate efforts in the areas of green and renewable technologies. We anticipate being the first stop for federal and provincial governments in their quest to create policy in these areas, we will be a central coordinating point for research, and we will be a virtual library of funding sources and already-undertaken projects.

By creating a “no wrong door” institute; anyone, from any sector, province or business, can come to the institute for information and assistance, and no matter what their queries, we can find an answer. We add value to any transaction in this arena in Canada, as we are, at present, the only such place in Canada to which governments, researchers, and indeed businesses, can turn to, to test out hypotheses, seek information on funding sources, and coordinate efforts.

We think of the institute as a force-multiplier. In this sense any initiator in the areas of biomass, green technologies or renewable technologies can use the institute to magnify the results they can anticipate from their initiatives.
