The APEC Women in the Economy Summit is a high level summit of top women leaders from around the Asian Pacific region. CanWIT is honoured to join Minister Rona Ambrose and a small group of private sector leaders to represent Canada in discussions in San Fransisco this week.
The goal of the Summit to raise the profile and understanding across APEC of the importance of women in economic growth. Secretary of State Hiliary Rodham Clinton will lead the discussions of leading women innovators of 21 economies. The talks will focus on women’s access to markets and capital, skills and capacity building and women’s leadership.
Joanne Stanley, CanWIT Executive Director will participate in roundtables and briefings on women’s leadership and fostering innovation. Joanne will represent Canada on issues impacting women in technology and attraction of girls into leadership and knowledge based industries.
