October 20, 2011 -- Lorne Abugov, President of Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame, said today that Canada should set a goal to become one of the most Intelligent Nations in the world -- a theme that will be explored on November 3rd by the Chair of i-CANADA at the 2nd annual Telecom Hall of Fame Lecture Luncheon at the Ottawa Convention Centre.
“We share a common vision with i-CANADA,” said Mr. Abugov, “since the Hall of Fame’s mission is to promote and safeguard the past, present and future excellence of Canadian telecommunications. Bill Hutchison has had a stellar career as a key figure in the establishment of institutions at the forefront of innovation ranging from CANARIE to i-Waterfront. We applaud the ambition of i-CANADA.”
“I look forward to developing the i-CANADA theme with the opinion-leaders working with Lorne’s organization,” said Mr. Hutchison. “In my remarks at the Hall of Fame luncheon, I will explore the paths we can take to ensuring that Canadian communities are able to win the “Intelligent Community of the Year” Award from the Intelligent Community Forum in New York.
“I also look forward to Lorne’s participation at the upcoming i-CANADA conference: “The New National Dream”. The i-CANADA “New National Dream” event will be held November 16-17 in Windsor. It features the Honourable David Alward, Premier of New Brunswick and Chair of the i-CANADA Governor’s Council, the President of the National Research Council, and global leaders on Intelligent Nation practices.
