i-CANADA Responds to Industry Minister Paradis: Uses of Advanced Technology by Small-scale, Entrepreneurial Organizations:
i-CANADA and its parent organization the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATAAlliance), Canada's largest high-tech organization, were challenged on September 16th to present examples of the use of advanced technology by small-scale, entrepreneurial organizations that typically are not noted for their use of advanced technology. The request was made in order to help the Minister advance the Department's Innovation programs.
Our goals were to:
CATAAlliance sent out a call for examples 12 hours after receiving the request for help. Responses have come in steadily, resulting in a on-line Report as of October 15, 2011.

A skilled workforce and a creative cultural environment are two strengths that the City of London Ontario brings to the i-CANADA program, said London Mayor Joe Fontana on accepting an invitation to join the i-CANADA Governors' Council. "London is a global city," noted the Mayor, "and we see the value in engaging in a movement to make all communities into "Smarter" cities".

Finland's teleco czar coming to Canada next month
By Rafael Ruffolo for ComputerWorld Canada: One of the politicians responsible for making Finland the first country in the world to entitle every one of its citizens with high-speed Internet access is coming to Canada to inspire politicians in the Great White North to do the same. Suvi Linden, one of the politicians responsible for getting "broadband as a fundamental right" passed in Finland, will be taking her story to Canada at a CATA Alliance event next month.
