Maple Leaf Angels Investment Match and Meet


Maple Leaf Angels (MLA), in partnership with Canadian Women in Technology, a Division of CATAAlliance, is hosting an investment presentation on Nov. 19th, focusing on women-led technology companies with unique and innovative solutions looking to grow to the next level.

MLA wishes to identify companies developing technologies and capabilities which are a strategic match with investment criteria. This investment opportunity specifically targets female entrepreneurs with the experience, character, and drive to build a successful technology company.

Qualifications of Interest

  • Early-stage technology companies, founded or co-founded by a woman and currently managed or co-managed by a woman;
  • The applicant/company must be located in Ontario, and preferably, within the GTA;
  • The business has a product ready-to-market and is earning, or is about to start earning, revenue from its technology;
  • The company has a good business plan with credible revenue and expense assumptions, forecast losses or income, and estimated funding requirements

Next Steps:

  • Early-stage technology companies, founded or co-founded by a woman and currently managed or co-managed by a woman;
  • Supply the following:
    1. necessary contact information;
    2. website URL;and
    3. A 2-page (or less) summary of a) the business, b) the role of women in founding/managing business, and c) how the business fits the qualifications ;
  • A short-list of candidates will be determined by October 12th;
  • 1 or 2 companies will be chosen to present to investors by October 26th;
  • Successful candidates will be asked to present to investors during an afternoon session hosted by MLA and CanWIT;
  • Interested investors and members of MLA will provide coaching assistance prior to November 19th.

Additional Information:

Please note that to proceed to the selection phase of this process one member of the Maple Leaf Angels or other angel investors must be seriously interested in investing in the company, subject to due diligence. The amount of equity being raised is likely between $350K and $1M. The group's typical initial investment ranges from $250,000 to $500,000, and they will participate in subsequent financing rounds as well.
