First Responder Vendor Outreach Forum – Chief Dan Hefkey to Provide Opening Address on Interoperability and Technology Requirements

Ottawa, Sept. 23, 2008…CATAAlliance is pleased to announce that the First Responder Vendor Outreach Forum will receive an opening keynote address from Chief Dan Hefkey, Chief of Emergency Management Ontario.

Deputy Chief Sue O'Sullivan with the Ottawa Police Service confirmed today that she will provide keynote following Chief Hefkey.  A subsequent announcement will provide further details. 

 

Chief Hefkey will speak about the important role that interoperability plays in Ontario's future plans for emergency management resiliency. Emergency Management Ontario has learned from past emergencies at home and abroad and is undergoing an aggressive program to implement standards, doctrines, and especially innovative partnerships with the private sector to make Ontario safer for its residents. Chief Hefkey will describe the emergency management environment in Ontario, past and current interoperability challenges, and some of EMOs current private and public sector initiatives.  Finally, Chief Hefkey will outline EMOs vision for the future including its interoperability needs.

 

Along with Chief Hefkey’s keynote presentation, attendees of the Forum will be hearing from the second day’s keynote, Mr. Yang Jincai: a former senior police officer of the Public Security Bureau of Shenzhen City and current Chairman of the Shenzhen Security & Protection Industry Association (SSPIA).
