Ottawa, August 27, 20114... As our economy continues to be reimagined digitally, industry leaders are rapidly looking for solutions to respond to this new business reality.
While the barriers to technology adoption range from access to financing and investment dollars, to having skilled ICT talent and to the role of the C-Suite in influencing change in this arena, the main challenge remains one of know-how. This is especially true for the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
To respond to the industry needs and better equip them with the necessary knowledge to adopt technology, this fall 2014, ICTC will be launching a Digital Adoption Compass (DAC) in collaboration with its partners CATAAlliance and the CIO Association of Canada. DAC will be a web enabled interactive hub designed as a one-stop information-rich portal with targeted and easy to use information and learning tools. In addition to assisting SMEs fast track their adoption of technology, the hub will provide a means to open up avenues of collaboration with other members of the community.
Through this hub, the Digital Adoption Campaign will feature select leading technology organizations. Leveraging their expertise through case studies, video interviews, and webinars, industry leaders will demonstrate the value of technology to business innovation and growth.
The soon to be launched DAC web hub (www.digcompass.ca) will be in English and French and will have the following key offering:
1. 1. A Digital Market Place: Showcasing featured technology solution providers through case studies, webinars, video interviews, and other interactive learning resources.
2. 2. Learning Resources and tools: A repertoire of select research, tools, and resources offered by (ICTC, CATAAlliance, and CIOCAN).
3. 3. Digital Pulse: A social media news aggregator pointing to a combination of pertinent technology news and developments (national & international), blogs, twitter feeds, etc.
As a follow up phase (target May 2015), a Digital Community of practice will also be launched; providing an online community to assist Micro and SMEs across Canada exchange case studies, lessons learned, and digital adoption best practices.
