Please be advised that companies/organizations can now participate in the Canadian Pavilion at ITU Telecom World on 4th-8th December 2006 at Asia World Expo, Hong Kong, China. The event, hosted by the Chinese government, offers access to its high growth markets. The city of Hong Kong, as the host city, is geared to facilitating business networking to potential partners and customers throughout China.

Through a special offering organized by CATAAlliance, Industry Canada, Communications Research Centre, CWTA and International Trade Canada, Canadian based companies can take advantage of an enhanced participation package for their trade show space and benefit from a range of enhanced business promotion services. In some cases, first time exhibitors may qualify for travel cost support.

The Canadian Pavilion will be of interest to companies with leading edge innovations in ICT (Information and Communication Technology) from mobile or content solutions to broadband and media or next generation networks to satellites, spanning the whole ICT and telecommunications industry.

High Profile Participating Companies

Current exhibitors include : Meriton Networks, Sandvine, EXFO, eTime Machines, SR Telecom, Convedia, Consilient and multi-client boosts such as, the Province of Alberta (featuring, ESP Consulting Inc.,  Baseband Technologies Inc., Dynastream Inc., Gennux Microsystems Inc, Meta4Hand Inc., Wirelessedge Inc., Yotta Yotta Inc.) with similar consortium from OCRI, the Province of Ontario and Québec. Confirmations are pending from: the Province of Saskatchewan (to feature 4-6 companies), Belair Networks, Corinex, Mitel, Redknee, TelcoBridges and Wavesat. Other Canadian participants are OZ Optics, PMC Sierra, and QiiQ/Eco-Carrier.

ITU Telecom World offers a full range of onsite opportunities for participants as well as new innovations and services. It provides a platform for the leading figures across the industry; from government and regulators to operators, service providers and vendors to come together, meet, network, do business and help shape the future of the world's ICT industry. The renowned ITU World Forum has "Living the Digital World" as its theme and will spotlight the role technology plays globally, the part it plays in our daily lives and how technologies affect societies worldwide.

The ITU Telecom World event was organized for the first time in 1971 and expected attention in 2006 is as follows: 900 Exhibitors from 50 countries; 50 thousand trade visitors from 160 countries; 2,000 VIPS from 150 countries; 1500 journalists from 50 countries; and 2500 expert panelists and speakers from 150 countries. Working with our government partners, as Canada's private sector host, CATAAlliance (including our CATA China offices) will make use of the venue to help companies increase their profile, generate new leads and close deals. CATA will also be providing Canada's ICT voice on regulatory, investment and trade matters affecting the growth of the sector through survey and advocacy work with leaders.

Executives may also be interested in participating in the first-ever public study on Canadian mobile data services capabilities. The study will focus on the current shift from voice to data and video services in the wireless industry. Our objective is to survey the mobile services industry in Canada and assess its capacity to meet current and future market requirements. International comparisons will be drawn.
