Legislative Alert: Copyright Consultation: Call for Guidance
July 24, 2009

Dear High Tech Executives,

As you may be aware, Industry Minister Tony Clement announced that the government is beginning nationwide consultations with Canadians to obtain feedback and guidance on copyright laws.

Minister Clement has noted that "Canadians are concerned with copyright and its implications in our increasingly digital environment,"  adding that "Your opinions and suggestions will help us draft new, flexible legislation so that Canada can regain its place on the cutting edge of the digital economy."

++ Action Item:

In order to ensure that the industry’s views are fully presented, we have created a Copyright Campaign led by Jay Thomson, LL.B, and a recognized expert in the fields of Internet/Broadcasting/Copyright Policy & Regulation. Please contact Mr. Thomson with any inputs you wish to provide for consideration at jay@jaycom.ca with Copyright in the subject line.

We will also be advising you of the date of a one hour briefing call to update executives about the Campaign and provide a Q&A venue for clarification of issues and concerns.

Yours sincerely

John Reid, CEO
