CanWIT (Women in Tech) Crowdfunding Campaign Support Letter (now open for contributions)
July 7, 2015

Dear (supporter)

The facts speak for themselves, action is needed. Here are a few of the alarming trends:

  • women's enrolment in engineering and computer sciences (i.e., STEM disciplines) is declining;

  • the ICT sector occupies 10 percent of North America’s economy, but women occupy less than fifteen percent of all senior roles;

  • 37 percent of Boards of Directors and 17 percent of management teams have no female representation; and,

  • less than two percent of venture financing is available to women led enterprises. In   Canada the numbers are closer to 1%; and

  • Women have 80% of the purchasing power and research has proven they are excellent  leaders and more collaborative to align teams to exceed.

There is an urgency to work together in Campaigns that mentor and share guidance through role models such as the CanWIT Mentorship video Channel. We need to course correct together to reverse the trends.
