CATA SPECIAL FEATURE:

Governing a National Public Safety Broadband Network: Confirm today for both the Forum and Webinar consultations

Canadian Information and Communications Technology (ICT) firms are invited to register now for a three-day Forum being held between May 22-24 in Ottawa to provide input and feedback on a proposed governance and business model, the planned development of the architecture of the nation-wide public safety mobile broadband network, and basic charter of incorporation for a not-for-profit organization to manage the 700 MHz spectrum dedicated to Canada's public safety communities use.

Organized in collaboration with Public Safety Canada, Defence Research and Development Canada/Centre for Security Science, the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance and the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association, the Forum will allow participants an opportunity to share in group and private discussions with the drafters of the Charter for the newly proposed national entity to own the spectrum and set standards for the creation of an interoperable, national public safety broadband network.

Due to limited capacity, certain restrictions apply regarding the registration approval process: these are described in more detail on the Forum site.

This consultation is the first in a series being planned for Industry, First Responders, and other public safety stakeholders. The focus on this particular consultation is principally to solicit feedback from the vendor community and therefore industry registrants will be provided with priority consideration over all others.
