CATA’s mandate is to be the voice of, lobby for and facilitate innovation and improve the competitiveness of Canada in domestic and global technology markets. To quote their website:

One of the areas that was identified as a challenge for technology organizations was sales. In particular, how to and how much to reward salespeople for selling technology solutions. The landscape in this area is changing as customers shift their buying patterns and as the sales role itself evolves and becomes more complex. There is inherent risk in not aligning your sales compensation plan with your business goals and sales strategies. However, as fewer people are entering the field of professional sales and organizations are expecting more from their staff, it is essential to be able to attract, motivate and retain your best salespeople.
The 2016 CATA Sales Compensation Survey will provide you with the information that you need to keep your program competitive with rivals who are also trying to lure your people and your customers to their organizations. Whether you are a smaller firm or a large enterprise, having a well-developed and market competitive sales compensation plan is critical. Two surveys are being conducted annually, one for SME companies (less than 100 employees) and the other for Enterprise businesses (more than 100 employees).
