TORONTO, ONTARIO. April 8, 2011 –AMT (Advanced Media Technologies) today announces the availability of Motorola Mobility’s passive optical LAN (POL) solution through its Canadian Partner, CTAR Corporation. POL provides a high-performance, reliable and secure enterprise network for IP voice, data and video. Based on Motorola’s proven passive optical network (PON) technology, Motorola’s POL solution provides significant capital and operational cost savings over traditional enterprise network solutions.
POL is a next generation enterprise LAN solution developed by Motorola that eliminates the need for large amounts of copper wiring, multiple distribution closets and related power and cooling systems. Ideal for enterprise and campus environments, large corporate users and customers requiring large amounts of bandwidth, POL replaces existing LAN connections with a single high capacity fiber optic cable designed to connect the end user directly to the data center. Derived from carrier grade passive optical networking technology, POL helps end users realize substantial CAPEX and OPEX savings while taking significant steps towards becoming a more green enterprise.
“POL represents a move towards green technology creating a high performance and energy efficient system.” said Tina Gokstorp, president of CTAR Corporation. ”This eliminates the need for distribution closets, routers, cooling and battery backup systems required in traditional LAN systems today.” Over the next few months, CTAR in partnership with AMT and Motorola will be holding information sessions in Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver to demonstrate this new disruptive LAN technology and its design benefits to IT industry decision makers and professionals.
“AMT is excited to be working with CTAR to bring Motorola’s POL product to the Canadian market. Canadian businesses will now have an eco-friendly alternative to traditional copper based network solutions that can provide a significant savings in CAPEX and OPEX budgets,” said Dave Swan, Manager of POL Deployment (Global) at Advanced Media Technologies.
“For those companies looking to drive real cost out of IT operations, PON offers a better total cost of ownership proposition compared to traditional LAN architectures,” said Joe Cozzolino, senior vice president and general manager, Network Infrastructure, Motorola Mobility. “We are very pleased to be able to offer our innovative POL solution to the Canadian Marketplace through CTAR Corporation.”
