Popular Gowlings Award for Clean Tech to be presented at CATAAlliance Innovation Awards Gala

CAMSC

OTTAWA - CATAAlliance, Canada's largest high technology association announced today the call for nominations for the popular Outstanding Product Achievement Award recognizing excellence in Clean Tech. The Gowlings Clean Tech Award is named after Gowlings, one of Canada's leading law firms.

The Award will be presented to a Canadian organization for an outstanding technology engineering development that has resulted in the production of a world-class Clean Tech product or family of products. The product will have proven itself in operation and its design and market success will have enhanced Canada's international reputation for innovation and excellence.

Clean technology includes wind power, solar power, biomass, hydropower, biofuels, information technology, electric motors, lighting, and many other products that conserve energy, promote energy efficiency or replace traditional energy sources with renewable ones. Finalists and award recipients will be chosen by a selection committee comprising experts drawn from Sustainable Development Canada, the Ottawa Clean Tech Cluster, the Deloitte Fast 50, CATAAlliance and Gowlings.

"Gowlings continues to demonstrate its dedication to technology excellence and leadership through its support of recognition programs, research and advocacy. This award was created in 2008, and has been one of our most popular awards since its inception," says John Reid, President, CATAAlliance. "Such awards and related programs create role models and also help to reinforce the role of new technologies in stimulating Canadian business and productivity. We congratulate Gowlings on their continued dedication, involvement and leadership in this important growth sector."

The Gowlings Award for Clean Tech will be presented on May 19th in Ottawa at the CATAAlliance's Annual Innovation Awards Gala Dinner, a 25-year tradition of recognizing outstanding technological innovation and corporate leadership in expanding the frontiers of Canada's advanced technology industries.
