Ottawa CFO's Unite to Strengthen Industry Leadership:
Ernst & Young and CATAAlliance Partnership
February 01, 2006

Ottawa, February 1, 2006… Ernst & Young and CATAAlliance announced today the formation of a CFO Leadership Group to help strengthen the industry's capacity to address complex business growth issues.

Comprised of 15 of Ottawa's top CFO's, the new group will serve as advisers to CATAAlliance, offering their guidance on the industry's legislative agenda.

CATAAlliance President, John Reid, said, "As the new government assumes power, it is essential to offer direction on key public policies affecting the growth of knowledge based industries in Canada. CFO's can bring critical insights into the development of supportive legislation and compliment the guidance of the CATAAlliance Board of Directors."

According to Steve Spooner, CFO, Mitel, "Participants will also benefit from confidential, peer-to-peer opportunities to share insights, knowledge and experience on emerging issues pertinent to their roles and the adoption of best practices. I think this is an excellent initiative to help boost CFO leadership skills."

Deanna Monaghan, Partner at Ernst & Young, added, "We are committed to growing leadership talent in Ottawa through offering venues that support innovation, best practices, and peer to peer information exchange. These are the ingredients of business growth and job creation, today and for the future."

The Group is holding its first meeting on February 16th to examine the theme of the Evolving Role of the CFO. Topics will include: information management, changing corporate governance and new regulatory requirement. Members will have access to a private list serve to extend their peer-to-peer information exchanges after the meeting.
