Tangerine CEO Takes to the Weology Airwaves: Peter Aceto named Innovation Council National Spokesperson

Ottawa, On... CATAAlliance (www.cata.ca), a recognized champion of Canadian innovation and entrepreneurship, today announced that Peter Aceto, President & CEO, Tangerine will serve as national spokesperson for the CATA Innovation Leadership Council (ILC).


The ILC serves as an advisory body, providing guidance on the implementation of the CATAAlliance mandate to support the global competitiveness of its members and the advancement of Canada as a competitive Innovation Nation, in addition to offering a community peer network to assess share insights into needs, trends and achievements.


CATA CEO John Reid said “Mr. Aceto, who was recently presented a Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of his commitment to innovation and community engagement, will be one of four innovation leaders engaged as national spokespersons to help advance CATA’s mission, mandate and core planks.“


Josh Blair, Executive Vice-President of TELUS Health and TELUS International, as well as President of TELUS Business Solutions West, and Dr. Micheál J. Kelly, Dean Lazaridis School of Business and Economics will serve as national spokespersons for the CATA Innovation Leadership Council (ILC).

According to Mr. Aceto, “ Becoming a social organization is the future. What that requires is a profound shift in the way business is led. There is a better way to do business that combines profit, engaged employees and social responsibility.”


Mr. Aceto added, “ We need to change the conversation around leadership by inspiring business leaders to explore the concept of Weology: How everyone wins when “we” comes before “me” and how it plays in the success of a business and Canada as a competitive Innovation Nation.”

In addition, Peter was awarded the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee award for his contribution to Canada’s leadership as a digital nation and for his contribution to his community. Peter achieved his Bachelor of Law degree in 1994 from the University of Western Ontario, where he also earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology. Peter is involved with numerous charities including Covenant House and Mount Sinai Hospital. He lives in Toronto with his wife and three children.
