May 23, 2017 – Victoria Lennox, CEO and Co-Founder of Startup Canada, the national rallying community and voice for Canada’s entrepreneurs, was awarded the Peter Brojde Award for Canada’s Next Generation Executive Leadership at the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA) Awards Gala.

The award, named in memoriam of an innovative scientist and entrepreneur who helped pioneer the personal computer revolution in Canada, recognizes the executive leadership of an individual who has had a major impact on the creation, success and transformation of their enterprise.

“I am honoured to be recognized by CATA and congratulate all of the recipients for their innovative work,” said Lennox. “These innovators are role models and influencers raising Canada’s status as a global destination for entrepreneurship, innovation, and investment.”

Lennox is recognized by the United Nations Development Programme and the European Union as one of the foremost experts in entrepreneurship education, ecosystem and program architecture, governance, and policy.

She is the first Canadian and one of the youngest recipients of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion on the recommendation of the British Prime Minister for her work as the founder of the National Association of University and College Entrepreneurs.

In 2012, Lennox founded Startup Canada, the national rallying community and voice for Canada’s entrepreneurs. Startup Canada offers training, resources, and a peer network to give every entrepreneur equal opportunity for success.

Since launching, the organization has grown to represent 150,000 entrepreneurs, work with more than 400 industry partners and is on target to support new businesses in 100 Startup Communities across Canada.

Through Startup Canada, Victoria actively champions Canadian entrepreneurs and companies on the global stage; and promotes Canada as an unparallelled place to do business. In 2016 alone she travelled to India, Israel, Jordan, the West Bank and Vietnam to develop opportunities for Canadian entrepreneurs in these regions.

“Our Award winners and finalists have each demonstrated significant leadership as role models for the development of commercially successful enterprises in Canada,” said John Reid, CATA President. CATA is proud to act as an advocate for them, to share their stories, and to provide a platform of programs and services to assist in fostering their growth.”
