In-spire Innovation Hub, Natural Resources Canada in Profile
To innovate, you have to experiment. NRCan’s Innovation Hub, IN·spire, champions the philosophy that responsible experimentation is an essential component of Public Service modernization.
As a first-of-its-kind initiative, NRCan’s Innovation Hub was created with as “a learning hub, network enabler and experimental space for new ways of working… supporting sectors, networks, committees and communities in advancing NRCan’s Blueprint 2020 Action Plan.”
IN·spire builds and posts all of its tools and information on GCpedia (the Government of Canada’s internal wiki site), makes learning events open to employees from other departments and freely offers to share all its data and lessons learned.
IN·spire’s whole-of-government approach to locally developed innovations has allowed other departments to accelerate their thinking on initiatives such as micro-assignments, upward feedback, the creation and operation of an innovation hub, social media and serious games.
