Leading Global Anti-Terrorism Experts Assemble in Toronto – Last Days to Register

security

In the midst of unprecedented terrorist activity throughout Europe and the Americas, leading global experts are preparing to gather in Toronto next week for a major international conference.

Specialists will consider a range of new ideas and perspectives on terrorism and urban violence, which is threatening economic and political stability, and increasingly targeting critical infrastructure, vulnerable public spaces and religious institutions.

The first of its kind in Canada, the 2017 Urban Security and Resilience Conference, Workshop and Exhibition, May 16-18, will feature presentations and panel discussions involving more than two-dozen law enforcement leaders and security specialists.

The list of international renowned speakers includes:

  • Chief Bertrand Vols – leads the agency responsible for policing the West Brussels District in Belgium that includes Molenbeek, the now infamous borough known as the jihadi capital of Europe;
  • Professor John Farmer – former Senior Counsel and Team Leader of the 9/11 Commission; former New Jersey Attorney General; and former Dean of the School of Law at Rutger’s University
  • Paul Goldenberg – Chairman and CEO, Cardinal Point Strategies; Member of U.S. Department of Homeland Security Advisory Council and Co-Chair of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Foreign Fighter Task Force
  • Anna Carlstedt – National Coordinator, Swedish Government Office to Safeguard Democracy Against Extremism
  • Dr. Anne Speckhard – Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, Georgetown University, and Director, International Centre for the Study of Violent Extremism; and
  • Richard Fadden – former National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Canada and former Director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS)
